One of the best ways to receive the virtues of plants is through ointments that also nourish dry skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. It can be the main gateway to receive the benefits of plants.
You can start with a calendula base and add anti-inflammatory plants like lavender or those that stimulate breathing like eucalyptus.
You will need:
- One cup of oil (coconut, olive or extra virgin sesame)
- Equal parts of dehydrated plants
- 30g. of grated beeswax (you can also use cocoa butter)
- Muslin or fine cotton fabric, funnel, containers
- Glass jars for packaging and storage
- Optional essential oils
- Infuse the herbs in the oil and place them in a water bath for 30 to 60 minutes, making sure no water drips on it.
- Pour the infused herbs onto the muslin folded in 3 over the funnel.
- Press the remaining oil in the muslin with your dry, clean hands.
- Heat the infused oil and beeswax or cocoa butter in a pan or again in a water bath. Add essential oils.
- Pour into the chosen containers.
- Refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes
Using less wax or butter will make the salve creamier
To apply a healing salve, rub your fingers over the salve and gently but deeply massage the area of your body that needs relief.
