We are a large community with a wealth of knowledge and experience. If you are thinking about conceiving, if you are pregnant or have just become a Mother, seek out the doulas, midwives, grandmothers, aunts, healers and wise women. The women who have lived through this process naturally, many times over, can guide you, accompany you, show you when to push your will forward, when to rest, how to repair and nourish ourselves.
We, from the experience of plants, of nature, of our network of wisdom share with you some practical advice for this cycle.
Breastfeeding
The best practice to start and maintain good breastfeeding is rest, sleep. It sounds ironic when at first the days and nights become a spiral in which cycles are marked by nursing, eating, cleaning and sleeping.
Sleep is essential and restorative. So too are patience, trust, and humility. There are plants that help us rest like lemon balm, chamomile, and lemongrass. There are plants that help with good milk flow like fenugreek, fennel and moringa.
To avoid bad milk let us avoid anxiety, let us invoke patience and compassion with ourselves.
